Winnebago High School Finals Exemption Policy 2020-21

Winnebago High School believes that semester final exams are a meaningful way to assess course mastery and also a viable practice to expose students to and prepare them for taking high stakes tests/assessments. WHS has adopted a policy that allows for students to earn finals exemptions at times as a reward to encourage high academic performance and strong attendance.

The information below can serve as a reference for students and parents to help them understand and take advantage of finals exemptions when possible.

WHS Finals Exemptions 2020-21

2nd semester seniors will be able to exempt from final exams IF: They have a grade of at least 60% in the class they wish to exempt from.

Sophomores, Juniors, and Freshmen are unable to exempt from any final exams. *During Final Exam Days, students will be required to attend all scheduled classes; once in a classroom, students will need to remain there until the testing period has ended. Students will take each exam on the scheduled date and time unless approved in advance due to a hardship or situation beyond the student’s control.  Once a student has completed all of their Exams for the day, between testing sessions, they may receive permission to leave from a parent after signing out in the main office.
