Girls Basketball Meeting:

There will be a brief basketball meeting in room 224 at 7:40 on Thursday, October 11 for all girls interested in playing basketball this year. Information needed before trying out for the team will be distributed at the meeting.

College Help:

Do you need help with college applications or writing your personal statement?  Do you have questions about the entire process? Come to the Computer Lab Room #218 during intervention time any Tuesday during October.  Mrs. Kline and Mrs. Brenner will be available to answer any questions!

Senior Sport Yard Signs:

Yard Signs for Cross Country, Dance, Cheer, Swim and Soccer are in the athletic hallway.  Please find yours and take it home.

Senior Yearbook Pictures:

WHS Senior Yearbook Portrait Retakes are on Thursday, October 11th. Pick up info sheets in the WHS LIbrary or WHS Office.

Quarterly Reward Trip:

Permission slips will be given out later this week to students who qualified for the PBIS trip. In order to attend you must have your permission slip with your movie choice and $15.00 to the office NO LATER than Tuesday, October 16th.  No LATE permission slips will be received.    Swedish American Open House:

Swedish American Hospital will be hosting an Open House to provide information on the Medical Career Exploring Post that they will offer to area youth, ages 14-20.  The Open House will be held on Tuesday, October 9th from 6:30 – 8:00pm at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford in Conference Room 2 in our first floor conference center. Parents and interested youth are encouraged to attend to learn more about the program and register to join the Post. The program will meet monthly during the school, giving students a deep-dive into a different Hospital Department during each session.

The Exploring program assists youth in learning more about career fields they are interested in, while developing leadership skills.  Programs often involve tours, job shadowing, youth leadership opportunities and meeting people in the professional community that they are interested in pursuing. Registration for new youth is $33.

NIU Engineering:

Your students are invited to learn more about the NIU Engineering @ RVC program featuring NIU’s B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, which students can earn on the campus of Rock Valley College. The information sessions are on Wednesday, October 17 and Wednesday, November 7 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at RVC.

NIU Engineering @ RVC program students have the opportunity for internships, mentoring and job interviews thanks to area companies pledging their support. This ABET-accredited NIU program, recognized for meeting the standard in quality engineering education, provides students with an education at an affordable cost. Students can earn NIU’s B.S. in Mechanical Engineering AND an Associate in Science or Associate in Engineering Science degree at RVC for around $40,000. That’s a great value!
