The lunch menus at Winnebago CUSD #323 are based on the Traditional Food-Based Menu Planning Approach from guidelines through the State of Illinois. Each menu must contain five food items from four food components; protein, fruit, vegetable, grains and milk. Saturated fat content also is reviewed when planning menu options. The district lunch menus were analyzed last year by Southern Illinois University and received very high marks for their nutritional value.
