In 2013, the state of Illinois joined several other states in passing Erin’s Law. Erin’s Law requires schools to provide age-appropriate sexual abuse and assault awareness and prevention education to students in grades Pre-Kindergarten through Twelfth grade. On Monday, March 6, a representative from the Carrie Lynn Children’s Center in Rockford, will be visiting McNair Elementary to present a sexual abuse awareness program for students in grades third thru fifth with age-appropriate techniques to recognize child sexual abuse and the importance of telling a trusted adult. Once again, this age specific, yearly educational program has been mandated by the state of Illinois and providing it to our students keeps us in compliance with the state. Should you have any questions about the program, we encourage you to call the Carrie Lynn Children’s Center at 815.319.4150.
