Winnebago School District #323 has Three Open Board Seats

Winnebago Community Unit School District 323 will have three school board seats to be filled at the April 6, 2021 consolidated election.  The three school board seats are for four-year terms with the terms expiring in April 2025. No more than three members may be elected from any one township within the district. At the time of this election, the following board members will be remaining: (1) from Burritt Township, (1) from Rockford Township, and (2) from Winnebago Township. Candidates for the office of school board can begin to circulate nominating petitions for signatures beginning September 22, 2020. The period for filing nominating papers runs December 14 – 21, 2020. Changes in the state election laws have moved the responsibility of school board elections from the local board secretary to the Winnebago County Clerk’s Office. Packets are available for prospective candidates at the School District Office during regular office hours (Monday thru Friday, 7:30 am to 4:00 pm). The Winnebago County Clerk’s Office has petition forms available or blank petitions may be downloaded from the State Board of Elections website. It is recommended that candidates consult the 2021 Candidates Guide, which can be downloaded from the State Board of Elections website or by contacting the Winnebago County Clerk’s Office on the requirements of filing.
