Registration for the 2010-11 Latch Key program is Thurs., March 25 at the Dorothy Simon Elementary cafeteria. Registration is from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Parents registering their child for Latchkey this night will receive a $10 discount. If you have questions about Latchkey, please call Erin Freeman at 815-335-2318.
Teams of families and friends competed against Jean McNair Elementary fifth graders in “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader” to test their knowledge on facts ranging from geography, literature, math, science, history and geography.
Anna’s Pizza and Pasta will host a fundraiser and kick-off event on Mon., March 22 for the Winnebago Fine Arts Council. The event kicks-off the Anna’s Pizza and Pasta Makeover “Italy Comes to Winnebago”.
The pizza, pasta, and salad buffet will be held from 5-8 p.m. and costs $8 for adults and $5 for children. Proceeds will support upcoming Fine Arts Council events.
As tradition, the final day before spring break will include the parade of tractors and the farmer’s breakfast. This year the event will take place on Fri. March 26.
Warm breezes are blowing, snow is melting, and Spring break is right around the corner. Spring sports are starting to rev up but a few winter activities have decided they aren't ready to be done just yet.
Spring picture proofs being sent home, orders need to be returned NO LATER THAN March 19. NO EXCEPTIONS!
It was an exciting week of robotics competitions at the Greater Kansas City Regional! Winnovation was awarded with the Excellence in Engineering Award, for our six wheel swerve drive (a first in FIRST Robotics), powerful kicking mechanism, and arm system that allows the robot to be suspended from a tower in the middle of the playing field.
Members of the Winnebago High School Spanish Class visit Dorothy Simon Elementary Second Graders each month for enrichment classes. As part of the outreach project, seniors teach second graders lessons they have prepared themselves.
