On Tuesday, July 23 the Winnebago PTO dedicated the upgraded playground at McNair Elementary back to CUSD #323 as the finishing touches are being taken care of. The PTO used funds that they have been saving for a great project like the playground.
The project included a new slide for the existing playground, a new basketball court to replace the old parking area and additional fencing and gate to keep the kids safer on the playground from traffic in and out of the parking lot. It took many groups of people to make this project come to life over the last six months. A big thank you goes out to the following companies for providing service to the project. They all were great to work with and very efficient in getting things done on time. Mark's Tree Care, Belrock Asphalt Paving, Cunningham Recreation/Custom Playgrounds, Dach Fence Co. An even bigger thank you goes out to the following volunteers that helped on the project. It really goes to show "many hands make light work". Playground Committee of parents and teachers that created and carried out the vision for the playground.
Principal Sean Monahan, A group of fifth grade girls(Cathrine Martul, Cami Crull, Haley Starkey, Olivia McDuff, Mary Miller, Grace Kilbreath, L.Kilbreath)and their parents that helped paint the USA Map. Ron Ferguson and his summer work crew that worked on painting the basketball court and other miscellaneous projects to bring it all together. A personal thank you goes to the Danko family for a large monetary donation to the playground. It was very generous of them to think of Jean McNair Elementary when deciding where to donate. The Danko family has been active volunteers within the PTO for years and will continue to be in the future as well. We thank them greatly for the donation and we are able to further our project by purchasing safety pads for the hoops on the basketball court that we weren't able to before. Tami Martul the outgoing PTO President, would like to thank all the volunteers that have helped in any way over the last five years that she has been involved. It takes a village to raise our children and the living in the Winnebago School District is a great place to be to do just that. Tami Martul was the PTO President for the 2012-2013 school year.
